Who We Are

Ann-Maree Ozanne
Director - BBS, PGDip Professional Accounting, Diploma in Management, CPA (PPC)

Ann-Maree has owned and operated Sterling Accountants since 2010 and has been working her accounting magic for over 17 years. As a fellow small business owner, she is perfectly placed to understand the challenges of running and living with a business.

Experienced in all industries and sectors, she has a wide and diverse portfolio of clients who benefit from her expertise in compliance and business mentoring. Ann-Maree really wants to get to know you, your business and what makes you tick. Working together to put in place your business and lifestyle goals, Ann-Maree has a focus on bottom line profit - she wants you to work smarter, not harder!

When Ann-Maree isn't at the office, free time is filled up with music, cooking, reading and family. She loves spending time with her young daughter and husband. Ann-Maree is incredibly passionate about Jazz and singing and recently returned to the Hagley Jazz School for further study where she is especially enjoying the performance aspect of the course.

Kelly Davis
Client Manager

Kelly is a super people focused Client Manager and a whizz on all your technical accounting needs. Whilst remotely based in Hamilton, with today's amazing technology, this won't impact any service you receive. In fact, maybe it makes her more efficient with less daily distractions! She regularly visits us here in Christchurch so face to face meetings are still available.

Kelly really loves getting to know the people inside the business, as accounting to her (and all of us) is so much more than just numbers. She is also our go to guru for finicky accounting software issues and she always fixes your problem with a smile.

Wonder Mum to two teenage daughters and one pre-teen daughter plus a husband in adventure tourism keeps Kelly busy. She has also returned to University this year to complete her Masters and has her own natural product range "Red Delicious" which she sells online and at local markets.

Barry Blackmore
Client Manager

With over 47 years experience in the Accounting Industry, Barry is an expert who knows his stuff! His extensive career includes being the Financial Controller for a large local Company, management accounting and managing his own business ventures. This experience gives him great insight into how things might feel from a client's perspective and empathy to the highs and lows that come with small business management.

Barry specialises in Farm and Trust accounting, but also has good experience in manufacturing, retail and production. The office comedian, Barry enjoys a witty or cheeky joke with a client just as much as a fellow colleague, and his down to earth and practical manner is always appreciated.

A semi professional trumpet player, Barry is passionate about all things musical. Lately however, his grandchildren take up a chunk of his free time. He also has the sweetest tooth in town, so if you are late bringing something in to us, perhaps a sugary treat would ease your way!

Eileen Palmer
Client Manager

Eileen originally hails from Scotland, but since she's been in New Zealand for twelve years we happily consider her one of our own. A Qualified Accountant since 1992, Eileen has a wealth of experience working within multiple Commercial and Accounting roles. She really enjoys assisting businesses and getting to know the what, why and how you tick. Her background has exposure to many industries specifically service and farm clients and she can't wait to help you!

A mother to two teenage children, Eileen has 4 alpacas and 6 chickens to keep her busy! She really enjoys creative writing and one day hopes write her own novel. Eileen also plays the guitar and violin and is currently learning to play golf.  Any time left after all the above have been catered to is spent travelling or hanging with her family.

Sarah Knowles
Client Services

Sarah followed the numbers through the legal, SOE and corporate sectors until she found her place at Sterling Accountants. She has a real affinity with numbers and her penchant for detail means she is a perfect fit for our office. One of our vibrant client managers, Sarah has worked with a wide range of clients in many industries, however, she is especially great with sole traders, rentals and all tax compliance.

Sarah LOVES computers and is our office computer guru for software and programming issues. She is always looking for a quicker, better way to do things and will always manage to spot a time saving solution or option.

Sarah is a devoted mum of three boys aged one, three and thirteen which doesn't leave much time for other activities. When they are older and child car seats are a distant memory, she plans on taking a big trip on her motorbike and rekindling her passion for salsa dancing. When enough sleep is granted, she is a "Collector of Trivia" and her cake decorating talents are envied by many.

Judith Voice
Tax Administrator

 

With an extensive background in the commercial sector, Judith was a little surprised she accepted a position in an Accountants Practice, and even more pleasantly surprised at how much she is enjoying working here. But then Sterling is no "ordinary" accounting firm.

Judith's experience includes significant time in Foresty, Engineering and Rural Service industries. Exceptionally talented at convincing the IRD to reconsider unjustified penalties, she always follows up on the important little details and is a thoughtful and dedicated member of our team.

For much of her life, Judith has lived on farms and she strongly identifies with the rural sector. Judith and her husband have a blended family of five, now adult, children and eight grandchildren. The later enjoyably take up a major part of Judiths time out of work, and when she has a free minute it is filled with bookclub and singing in the local Selwyn choir.

Chris Tomlinson
Client Administration

 

Chris is a classic multi tasker and as such she wears many different hats within Sterling Accountants. Chances are when you ring, 9 times out of 10 you will hear Chris's golden dulcet tones welcoming you to the firm. Likewise, when you enter our premises it will be her smiling face that will be your first port of call. As to the other hats, well they range from social convenor and caterer (best cheese rolls in the South Island!) through to florist and office filing. It is this finely turned organisational ability that is the oil keeping Sterling humming like a finely tuned machine.

Out of office, you'll find Chris has one eye in true Canterbury style, and she's an avid supporter of the Crusaders and All Blacks. A proud grandmother of one (soon to be two), she delights in spending time with her son and his family, knitting and gardening. After all that hard work who could possibly deny Chris a well earnt G&T in the neatly manicured gardens of home.

Lea Hornsby
Client Support

Lea has broad experience in Administrative roles, mostly within larger New Zealand companies, so it was a change to start working in a small locally owned Accounting firm. Lea really enjoys the personal environment (you're more than just a number!) along with the flexibility and relationships a smaller business can offer. She manages our office workflow and loves assisting clients and fellow team members who appreciate her bubbly personality and great sense of humour. An interest in accounting is also being explored and she is enjoying learning more about tax, the Companies Office requirements and preparing returns.

Lea is also responsible for all our Marketing and Social Media. Like us on Facebook! This is regularly updated with great pointers and tips for managing small business and tax obligations.

Lea is a mother of two, Jack and Anna, and loves to get out with them and her husband in their campervan (glamping is preferred). They only have Haast left to visit in the South Island and most school holidays will see them partaking in another camping adventure.
